FASHION WEEK TRENDS

// Transparency
When fashion makes you think or look at something in a completely different frame of mind then it’s doing its job by peaking the interest of the consumers this season has been no exception, though some of the trends have just been reinvented in a new way to make it more modern. Designers have really pushed the envelope when it comes to transparency this season, creating illusions that make the mind question what its really seeing. To strategically placed fabric creating the illusion of nudity to the combinations of fabrics overlaid on top of one another producing new prints and textures, transparency has brought new life into minimalistic designs by adding artistic and visual elements into everyday looks. Whether you chose to implement this into your own style with statement pieces like an evening dress or into outerwear like the vinyl coat from Burberry. This is one trend that should be on everyone’s must list, and if your not into the statement pieces make it more accessible for you by opting for a sheer top with a bandeau or a simple high low skirt.

// 20’s
The essence of the twenties just exudes the feeling of extravagance, excitement and energy. So it’s no surprise that this seasons designers pulled inspiration from those emotions and created modern pieces that were inspired by this amazing period of time during the twenties. With the opulence and craftsmanship that was beading, the delicate nature of the fringe dress, and the luxurious feeling of fur, becoming the source of inspiration but, then the question becomes how do you create pieces that look fresh and new and don’t scream costume pieces. You simplify the artistry of each element creating a refined look that is more wearable for the everyday woman and switch the silhouettes from the short boxy cut dress to longer maxi dresses or into separates and by doing that you create modern looks with a bohemian feel that you can wear on an everyday basis.

// Print Mixing
Wearing a print can really be a challenge for the unadventurous fashionista but what does that matter. By wearing a print you can add visual interest to a minimalistic outfit. Though being minimalistic isn’t a problem in fact it’s my favorite way to dress, there is still a place for prints and whether your like this seasons designers and take prints to the extreme by mixing two to create a bold statement or if you take more of a simplistic approach by pairing it it with everyday basics. Prints can both enhance and destroy a look if not done correctly. The keys to know when pairing prints together are to choose two complimentary prints that don’t clash but how do we know what prints to pair together you ask. Its simple the easiest way to achieve balance with prints are to choose different scale or sizes of prints. For example you could pair a simple polka-dot with an oversized stripe or floral and be fine, because by having two different sized prints they aren’t competing for attention allowing your look to still be bold but not overpowering. Though if your not wanting to take such risks stick with pairing one article of printed clothing with basics, either jeans for a casual look or suiting for a more professional look.

// White on White
 With winter just around the corner all of our minds will be on fall styles and all the layering options you will have. Though throughout winter the weather will be changing and you will have to adjust to the sea of snow and rain that will cover the streets and skies. But after the shock of all the white around you, use that imagery as inspiration for your spring outfits and go for a simple and classic white on white looks. The benefit of a white outfit is that it instantly makes any outfit look crisp sharp and clean (if treated and washed correctly). It also looks good with every skin tone and color of hair. But if your thinking to yourself “oh my gosh, it will get dirty in 5 seconds” all I have to say to you is don’t be afraid, just know what you are doing and where your going and if it is the right event or situation you’ll know. Just remember clothing is meant to be worn and unless your going to be trampling in mud or through the fields you can wear white, and if your still not comfortable go with the alternative. Which is a singular statement piece like a coat or a great pair of trousers that you can pair with any pieces from your current wardrobe.
