O.O.T.D.

Time Traveler // Outfit #3 in my vacation look book. I guess I was feeling a little old school with my mint green windbreak that resembles something that came straight out of Miami Vice. But it is one of my favorite jackets for transitional weather, because it is lightweight and super comfortable. Styled with a simple graphic tee and denim shorts, this is an accessible look that anyone can wear.

Forward Thinking // Outfit number two from my Vegas Vacation, when packing for future events and the unknown it is always good to pack options. My favorite thing to pack are layering pieces because you never know what type of day it is and how unexpected the weather will be. For this look I went for a transitional look because I was going to be doing a lot of shopping both outdoors and indoors and wanted to make sure that the outfit would work for any situation. Including going from day to night because I wasn’t sure how the evening was going to end or if I would have time to change. This type of look is great for that purpose because the jacket has a nice sheen to it which can go day to night and by adding elements like a hat and a statement necklace it can turn the look from casual to chic. Just remember when going from day to night chose pieces that have shine or texture because it will take away the plainness from cotton and denim and turn it into a sleek modern night out look

Climate Change // this past weekend I took a little vacation to clear my head and do some massive shopping. But I had to be prepared for the huge climate change going from 40-degree weather and needing jackets and hoodies to the amazing 75 plus degree weather of Las Vegas where I would be spending the next five days. I chose to throw on a simple white tank with a grey pocket with some denim shorts because the weather looked beautiful. But there was a cold front coming in causing a breezy wind. So I paired it with a chambray shirt for when it got a bit to chilly. This is an easy outfit that anyone can wear if vacationing in a warmer location because of its easy simple nature. Though still looking fashion forward while on vacation (making you not look like a tourist). To add more fashionable elements you can add an amazing pair of shoes and some simple accessories. This was just the first of four outfits that I shot while on vacation, so keep an eye out for the others coming soon.

// MEN’S JUMPSUITS
 Spring/Summer has definitely brought some new life into men’s fashion and what’s to come in the future. Nothing stands out to me more then my favorite trend from the entire season, which is the men’s jumpsuit. I remember when H&M did collaboration with Fashion Against Aids and in that collection they had a jumpsuit for men, I wanted it but with no H&M where I lived I couldn’t have it. Since then I have hoped it would take off and this season it did. With not many options for men this brings a since of freshness to a world dominated by suiting and tailoring. I am excited to see where this trend goes and how many people actually embrace this new look I know I will.

Urban Camouflage // Bringing the woods to the streets, wilderness prints are all the rage taking something designed for hiding and bringing it to the forefront of the fashion world. I decided early on that camo was just not something the world needed to be wearing and I still believe that, but there are different ways to interpret that trend into everyday wear. So when I saw this green water color print that referenced camo I said to myself “now this I can do” because it subtlety hints at that print but brings a whole new modern spin on it. So I decided to buy it in a short and shirt since I didn’t know how I was going to wear it on a daily basis. Though for this look I paired them together to resemble a one-piece jumpsuit. To help break up the massive sea of print, I added a white blazer, and accessories that help complete the look by adding depth.

// OVERSIZED COATS
Outerwear in fashion is never going away so, how do you reinvent something that never changes. You blow it out of proportion! From shirts, to pants, to coats this season has seen many of silhouettes grow to a new normal, which is oversized. This trend is something that I have loved and been implementing into my own wardrobe casually. There is something unique about changing the way people perceive you by just dropping your sleeve hem to below your shoulder, or adding length to your coat. It makes people wonder and question their own styling choices. Not many people like or even want to attempt to wear such a trend because they aren’t sure if the can feel comfortable in it. Though the key to adapting this into your own style is simple you need to have balance. If you are going to wear an oversized top wear a tailored pant or vice versa. You don’t want to have both piece in your outfit oversized because you then look like a giant marshmallow man who looks like they will consume everything in their path while walking around.

// Mixed Media
Artist from all around use mix media as a way to express themselves and bring depth to there work whether it is painting on top of a photograph or adding three dimensional pieces to their two dimensional canvas. Either way it completely changes and overhauls the piece to a whole different level. So why not do that with fashion whether it is mixing textiles like leather and lace or to mixing prints like polka dots and stripes. It brings them like art to a different level. This trend was noticeable on many runways this season from London to Milan. It created elements that were both hard and soft, masculine and feminine, unique and different. Just reinforcing that there are no rules when it comes to fashion, since fashion is what each individual makes it, just like artist creating one of a kind pieces that can stand out in a world where there are no boundaries. These are some of my favorites from the runways.

//WHITE ON WHITE
Though blue was a major color trend on the runways for Spring, it wasn’t the color making all of the statements but the way it was being outfitted. This coming Spring we will be seeing a lot of monochrome outfits in the same color range or hues, though nothing caught my eye more than the monochrome outfits in white. White on white is one of my favorite things ever, not only because it is eye catching but because it makes a statement, it shows that you are a risk taker. You can never have to much white in your wardrobe. White makes every outfit look clean and polished (if it is correctly treated to stay stark white and not that dingy off white). While making the outfit look expensive, just reference the Hampton’s parties where everyone is wearing tones of white. There are a few different ways to wear this trend depending on what your most comfortable in. The first way is in suiting which is perfect for beach parties and weddings, but the key is to not wear all one texture of white. Mix and match them, for example wear a linen suit and a gingham printed shirt like the Tom Ford look to add depth or add some piping in grey to your jacket adding dimension to the layers of white. The second way it everyday casual wear, like my earlier post just add a plain oversized tee to some white acid wash jeans while pairing it with some white shoes that you feel comfortable in. With this type of styling just add accessories whether its a coat or some simple jewelry that can add the depth needed for the look. Don’t forget this can be used for both casual and dressy outfits.
